The Fender Twin Reverb in Action

Vox AC30 vs AC15 vs Fender 1965 Twin Reverb Reissue

I had a Marshall JCM900. It was perfect in every way, except it was too big for the gigs that I was playing. 

So naturally, I downsized. I sold the 900 and picked up a 1965 Fender Twin Reverb (reissue). But it wasn't working too well. It sounded great and looked amazing, but the vibrato/reverb footswitch made this gnarly pop whenever it clicked. Also, whenever the switch was plugged in, the vibrato was ALWAYS on. So I took it back to GuitarCenter (hate the place) and got it tested. I started looking at Vox amplifiers, due to my love of Radiohead (Jonny in particular). They had this shimmering kind of beauty to them, but I had to make sure that it was what I wanted. However, I loved Josh Klinghoffer of Red Hot Chili Peppers, too. He is known to use Fenders. The Vox had shimmery cleans, and a full sounding bass contour, but the Fender had this Bell-like charm to it. I thought about switching to a Vox. But there was something about the Fender Twin that had me by the balls.
